Isnt it possible that the real issue is not the gas cap or check engine light, but rather a deeper problem with the engine itself? Maybe were just scratching the surface here.

Is it just me, or does anyone else feel like check engine lights are just a ploy by car manufacturers to keep us running to the mechanic for every little thing? Seems like gas cap issues are just an excuse for them to make a buck.
